Busy Summer!

Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Catalina, Carpinteria Beach, California, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, WOW it's been a very busy summer.  I was blessed to have my grandson spend he summer with us.  We picked him up in Idaho Falls in late June and brought him to his new home in Elk, Washington in late August!  During the Sumer we spent a lot of time traveling and hopefully making special memories with him.  We were able to camp at our favorite beach, Carpinteria State Beach three different times, we took the ferry over to Catalina island for a couple of fun packed days, we went to the X-Games and the Ventura County Fair, and tried to pack as much fun into the summer as we could.  Here are some photos.

My Dream Greenhouse is 90% done!

The roof is on, the glass shelves are installed and I was able to move the furniture I had slated to go into the greenhouse in.  The sink still needs it's plumbing and we plant to make the space under it more useful.  The desk on the left of the sink will be perfect for doing projects, the other areas are where I will be able to have seedlings and plants that I am propagating. The shelf above the sink goes across the entire area and will also hold seedings and such.

Lemon Infused Honey - YUM!

I've been drinking a lot of lemon juice lately.  It started when I had a large kidney stone that had to be removed last year and the doctor advised me to add lemon to my water to keep them away.  Well, that inspired me to get creative with lemon.  It has been so cold that I have been drinking a lot of tea rather than water.  I love lemon and honey in my tea, and I wondered if I could infuse the honey with lemon.  Turns out it is actually really simple and tastes delicious!

My hubby recently decided to cut sugar from his diet, so I started researching recipes. Since I love sourdough bread, I thought it would be an excellent way to replace the bread he used to eat.

Biggest, best piece of Sea Glass I've ever found!

I wasn't planning on doing another post about sea glass (even though it is something I am obsessed with) but yesterday we went for a beach walk at my favorite Santa Barbara county beach and I found the biggest and best piece of sea glass I've ever found.  And then, my hubby actually found the 2nd biggest best just about the same time I found this one. So needless to say I had to write about these two pieces!

Sea Glass and Driftwood

Since there has been so much rain in Southern California this year, the beaches are experiencing much more runoff from the hills and water channels than usual. Lucky for me, it is creating or uncovering a lot of sea-tumbled glass and driftwood. This past weekend, in between storms, there was a clear day when we went for a beach walk along with Daisy Doodle. Did I mention that Daisy's happy place is the beach, where she can run free, play with other dogs, and chase the seagulls? Well, that's another story...
